Arado Ar 234B - Overall view of work area (scan - 1984)

The Arado 234 was the world's first jet bomber. It served in both bomber and reconaissance roles. It was powered by two Jumo 004 turbojets, the same as those used on the Me 262. It had no internal weapons bay and no armament. Bombs were slung underneath the fuselage and under the engine nacelles. A compartment aft of the wing trailing edge carried cameras in the recon variant. The planned night fighter version was to carry the radar operator in this compartment.
